Teaching has been a central part of my career, both in academic settings and in international training contexts.

At Wageningen University, I contributed to courses in remote sensing and advanced Earth Observation. I also developed the Geo-Scripting course, which introduced students to computational approaches in geospatial analysis. The course received educational awards and is available as a formal course at Wageningen University.

I supervised multiple PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, with a focus on independence, collaboration, and scientific curiosity.

More recently, I have focused on targeted teaching and guest lecturing, including international training activities such as the 2026 course in Brazil at the Serrapilheira Institute.

Topics I Teach

  • Earth Observation principles and applications
  • Copernicus services and ESA EO programmes
  • Time series analysis and change detection
  • Open-source approaches and reproducible EO workflows
  • AI and geospatial data, including emerging foundation models and digital twin contexts

Coaching & Mentoring

My coaching style aims to create clarity and momentum: sharpening a research question, mapping the path from method to contribution, and building confidence in writing and presenting.

I particularly enjoy mentoring at the interface between science, operations, and policy — where framing and communication matter as much as technical rigour.

Potential Engagements

I am open to:

  • Guest professorships and guest lectures
  • Short courses and tailored trainings
  • Academic coaching (research framing, writing, positioning, career transitions)
  • PhD supervision support and jury participation
  • Strategic advisory roles in Earth Observation and geospatial data
